For some months, each day time my Windows 10 laptop was powered on, it found and attempted to install a Xerox Update driver. The result was always the same; “Error Encountered”, with a long list of failures in Update History AND yet another attempt to download and install it. The big problem was how to stop Windows automatically retrying to install this driver for a Xerox Printer/product that I had not got or never had. Internet research of this known error either did not work or I was VERY wary of downloading and installing onto my laptop some third party software “to repair the error”. Andy, taking remote control of my Laptop problem (I am based in Devon), solved the issue, removed some unwanted ‘freebie” software, repaired Widows Update and carried out some adjustments to my setup etc. This has completely resolved the problem. Windows Update no longer searches for this Xerox Update AND cleared all the listed failed attempts! I would strongly recommend AWKs. Thank you, Andy, for sorting out this problem which had begun to appear to me as being impossible to correct.

Replace battery and WiFi card of four and a half year old Dell XPS 13 laptop. I live in Rotherhithe, East London, and initially tried contacting PC repairers in my locality and Canary Wharf but none had even the courtesy to say they were not interested. As I am frequently in the Bluewater/Northfleet area I tried a search and found AWKS. Andy responded quickly to my email, confirming that he could do the job, provided he could source the battery. I dropped the laptop off while I went shopping so he could open it up, note the details and photograph the original battery. His usual supplier didn't have the battery but knew another supplier who did. The parts were ordered and arrived in a few days. The actual repair was scheduled to fit in with my trips to the area. The real expertise that Andy brought to the task was knowing exactly what model of battery to order and where to get it. Without that expertise the repair would have been impossible and I am very grateful to him. The cost came to less than one-tenth of the cost of a new laptop and should keep it going for a few more years. AWKS will be my first port of call when I buy a new desktop PC next Spring.
